Acts 11:18 says, “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, ” Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.”
It is human nature to build fences. We like routine, we like familiarity, and without realizing it, we often draw lines around who we think is “in” and who is “out.” But Acts 11 shows us a God who constantly tears down our carefully built fences.
When Peter returned to Jerusalem, he wasn’t met with a celebration; he was met with criticism. The believers were concerned with rules and traditions. Yet, when Peter shared how the Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles just as He had on them, their hearts shifted. They stopped arguing and started praising God.
Where in your life are you holding onto an old tradition or prejudice that might be blocking someone else from experiencing God’s love? Know that grace can reach into unexpected places and restore unexpected people.
Today, ask God to expand your vision and be ready to welcome whoever He brings to your table.
