Beginning Your Journey with Jesus
No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or where you find yourself today, God loves you unconditionally. He desires a personal relationship with you, and that journey begins with salvation.
1. What Does It Mean to Be Saved?
Salvation is a free gift from God. It cannot be earned through good deeds, family tradition, or church attendance. It is received by faith in Jesus Christ.
God Loves You: God created you for a purpose and loves you deeply. – (John 3:16)
We All Need God: Every one of us has missed the mark and sinned, which separates us from God. – (Romans 3:23)
Jesus Bridged the Gap: Out of love, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose again, defeating death. (Romans 5:8)
A New Life: When we place our trust in Jesus, our sins are forgiven, and we are given a fresh start and eternal life. – (2 Corinthians 5:17)
If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9
2 The Salvation Prayer
Salvation isn’t about repeating magical words; it’s about the sincere posture of your heart turning toward God. If you are ready to surrender your life to Jesus and invite Him in as your Lord and Savior.
And, if you once walked with God but find yourself far from Him today, know that His love and grace haven’t changed. Like the Father in the story of the prodigal son, He is waiting to welcome you back with open arms. You can pray this same prayer today as a fresh start and a rededication of your heart. Pray a prayer like this:
Lord Jesus,
I believe that You are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for my sins. I ask that You come into my life as my Lord and Savior. I choose to follow You from this day forward. In Your name, Jesus I pray this prayer, Amen.
3. Did You Pray That Prayer?
If you prayed that prayer in faith, welcome into the Kingdom of God! Your journey doesn’t end here. It’s just beginning.

Talk to God (Prayer): Spend time speaking honestly with God every day.
Read the Bible: Start with the Gospel of John to learn more about Jesus’ life and teachings.
Get Connected: Find a Bible-believing local church community where you can grow alongside other believers.
Tell Someone: Share your decision with a Christian friend, pastor, or family member.
4. Water Baptism: The Next Step of Obedience
Once you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, the next biblical step is water baptism.
What is Water Baptism?
An Outward Declaration: Baptism doesn’t save you; rather, it is a public demonstration of an inward decision you’ve already made.
A Symbol of New Life: Going under the water represents being buried with Christ, leaving your old life behind. Coming up out of the water symbolizes rising to walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4)
Following Jesus’ Example: Jesus Himself was baptized, and He commanded His followers to be baptized as an act of love and obedience. (Matthew 28:19–20)
Who Should Be Baptized?
Anyone who has made a conscious, personal decision to repent and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
