There is a phrase that I have heard several times recently: “Locked In.” When something is repeated, I often pause and pay attention. Sometimes God uses simple words to remind us of important spiritual truths.
As believers, we need to be locked in, not on the world, not on distractions, not on temporary pleasures, but on God, His Word, and His purpose for our lives.
We live in a world filled with distractions. The phone rings. Text messages arrive. Social media demands attention. Someone knocks on the door unexpectedly. A neighbor wants to chat. The news pulls us in one direction while personal concerns pull us in another.
Before we know it, hours have passed and our focus has drifted away from the very One who called us.
Acts chapter 6 provides a powerful example of staying locked in. As the church grew, new needs arose and problems had to be addressed. The apostles understood the importance of helping people, but they also recognized their primary assignment.
They said:
“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”
They remained focused on what God had called them to do.
Being locked in means staying committed to God’s purpose even when distractions compete for our attention. It means refusing to allow every interruption to pull us away from prayer, worship, Bible study, and service.
Noah was locked in when he continued building the ark despite the criticism around him.
Abraham was locked in when he followed God’s instructions without knowing exactly where the journey would lead.
Nehemiah was locked in when he rebuilt the wall and refused to come down because others wanted to distract him from the work.
Daniel was locked in when he continued praying even when it could cost him his freedom.
The apostles were locked in when they continued preaching the gospel despite threats, persecution, and opposition.
None of these servants of God allowed distractions, fear, or public opinion to move them from their assignment.
The same principle applies to us today.
We are not here merely to ride life’s merry-go-round of entertainment, distractions, and endless busyness. We are here to know God, serve Him, grow in His Word, and share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
There will always be something competing for our attention. There will always be another distraction waiting to pull us off course.
But God’s call remains the same.
Stay focused.
Stay faithful.
Stay obedient.
Stay steadfast.
Stay the course.
Stay locked in.
When God speaks, no lengthy explanation is needed. Our responsibility is not to debate His instructions but to obey them.
As the days grow darker and distractions become greater, may we keep our eyes fixed on the Lord and remain committed to the work He has placed before us.
The mission has not changed.
The calling has not changed.
So remain locked in.
